Content Management System is a system that used to develop systematic and collaborative content creation. It allows companies to take a full control of webpages by managing contents differently from the design.

CMS allows end-users to provide new content in the form of articles. The articles are usually entered as plain text, with markup to indicate where other resources (Such as pictures) should be placed. The system then uses rules to style the article, which detaches the display from the content.

A good example of CMS we can consider would be a system for managing any news website. In such system updaters type news into the system, which stores them in a database. Along with the news the system stores elements including keywords, time and date of news, the updater’s name and other related information.

A CMS-tool in general includes functions for administering users and groups and editing the content.
